Iowa ULC Marriage

Today, we celebrate the union of, Tearese Bomar and Shamera Page in Scott County, Iowa. The wedding was officiated by ULC minister, Rev. Mary Patricia Bay.
The announcement was initially published in the Quad City Times.
Tearese and Shamera have been together for three years, and have planned to wed for two and a half. When the Iowa State Supreme Court ruled in favor of same-sex marriages nearly one month ago, the couple sized their opportunity.
Shamera said she was speechless following the ceremony. As their mothers signed some of the paperwork, the couple slipped away for a quiet moment together. They laughed during the ceremony but cried tears of joy afterward.

Congratulations Tearese and Shamera!

Seems the ULC Monastery needs to be renamed the Rainbow Monastery. What is the preoccupation with gay rights? Are the owners coming out of the closet or something? What nonsense!
I am glad to see that there is a church out there who dares to take a stance on all issues deemed "Hands off" or "contraversial," by the norm.
Whether it be the rights of ministers to officiate over same sex marriages, or the rights of individuals to follow the God of their understanding - It is refreshing... Lead on ULC!!!
Congratulations to the ladies and much joy and blessings! :)
I'm always amazed (and at my age I don't know why I should be) at the negative comments from people who are incensed about someone else's happiness. In as much as the general run of religious feelings are against anything gay, thank goodness there are some groups that are positive in their support of such. I'm not gay but have always been appalled at people who preach love and act totally to the contrary. In the name of Jesus, of course and Hallelujah! The Rainbow Monastery, eh? Sounds good but probably isn't in the works LOL.

First Congratulations Ladies !!! I am so happy to be an Iowan and be able to say that.
As for Anonymous who posted on May 1, 2009. I think I remember the ULC as being for all people no matter what race religion creed color or sexual orientation. We are all of the same universe and deserve to be equally treated. If the founders of the ULC happened to be "coming out of the closet" then good for them. Not that I would know one way or the other, and if not then kudos for them for simply being supportive of equal rights for all people.
